pr 3rd pl of vasati (verb)
Etymology. √vas (to dwell, remain) is cognate with Latin vastus (empty, desolate — the dwelling-place being what remains) and English wise (in the sense of 'manner' or 'place', as in likewise, otherwise). The root sense is 'to settle, occupy a space'. In the canon, vasati forms the basis of vasa (dwelling, abode) and vasanta (dwelling-place), and occurs in compounds like āvasa (resort, haunt).
